Prospective Tutors

Applications are currently open for the Fall tutoring season and will be open until September 20th. Please read below on how to apply.

Do you want to virtually tutor elementary and middle school students to earn Community Service Hours that can count towards Bright Futures Scholarships?

Learn With Lions is looking for top performing high school students that are good role models and want to help students in the Lake Nona community through online tutoring after school. No meetings to attend at school and everything can be done from your home.

Qualifications:

–  Tutors must have a 3.25 unweighted GPA

– Tutors must have access to a personal computer or tablet at home for your tutoring. (OCPS computers do not work for the WebEx program our tutors need to use, but they work for the students being tutored.)

3 –  In the fall, we only accept tutors in grades 10, 11, & 12.
Freshmen may apply in January for our Spring session. (We need to see your high school unweighted GPA of 3.25 or higher).

4 – Exceptions will be considered if you email

Unlike other clubs, you can tutor for Fall, Spring, or both. Experienced tutors can also tutor over the Summer.

Tutors will work one on one to help students on the topics they need at a pace that is right for them. We will have about 50-75 private tutors. Tutors are assigned to students based on availability, grade and topic. After completing your application, one of our board members will email you within a week to let you know if you meet our qualifications and to schedule your onboarding procedures.

Because of our flexible schedules, many of our tutors are involved in other clubs like the National Honors Society, Student Government, Debate, etc. A lot of our tutors also participate in activities such as band, chorus, tennis, & golf. If tutors have a conflict with a band concert for example, they can reach out to the student’s parents to reschedule their session. You do need to be able to commit to the hours you agree to tutor.

Part of our tutor training focuses on being a good role model & mentor to the students you tutor. This is very important for all of our applicants. We have found that this connection really motivates some of our elementary and middle school students to see high school students with a true interest for learning.

Tutors can tutor anywhere from 1-4 hours per week depending on your preference and availability. Please be realistic when signing up for your available hours.

If you have questions, please email [email protected]

Note: Please apply using a personal email account. School emails will not work.
